AFTER making his name and fame at the biggest stage of the rugby league in the country, Ase Boas is enjoying his time off with family.
But he can’t cease what he loves doing and after departing from the PNG Kumuls and PNG Hunters space, he continues to inspire and making impact at the lowest levels at the community levels.
He lastly appeared in Rabaul Gurias jumper this year and yet to make a call on his rugby league career and is looking at having more time with the community, moulding and shaping the young talents.
Life after sports and enjoying some time out steering the local youths is what the former Kumuls playmaker is looking to do long-term.
After steering the Blue Heelers to a successfully victory over the Southern Chefs in the NCD Rugby Union grand final on Saturday, Boas was full of praise for his side.
Boas was also the man behind the formation of the club itself based outside of Bomana, which are in the competition for the second season, since last year.
“We don’t expect to be in the final and winning the comp,” Boas told media after the 9-8 victory over the Chiefs at the Murray Barracks oval.
“The majority of the boys are from Bomana and local boys from 9-Mile, trying to convert from league to rugby.
“My personal interest in participating in such and switching form league to rugby is no about sports, it’s about the youths.
“I come from that surrounding community where they try to have the taste of the union so I want to give back to the community and encourage the youths to play the sport.
“They feel like someone from that top level, from either code to come down to their levels and guide them through so principle is the main thing about me so I want to guide them and thinking about the future, and life after sports.
“Heading into that life in helping others and shifting the focus into what to do next.”
Meanwhile, in the junior and women, Chiefs walked out victories (21-14) and (24-11).
