Life PNG Care raise school fees for 600 orphans

A POPULAR orphanage in Port Moresby is holding a car wash tomorrow (Saturday) at the vision city mega mall to raise school fees for more than 600 orphans under its care and is appealing for the public to support the fundraising.

Life Care PNG, which provides out-of-home care for homeless children, said all funds raised will be used to pay school fees for the unfortunate children for the 2024 academic year, said founder and director Collin Pake.

“Under our Strongim Pikinini Education Program, we have 600 plus students attending various schools this year, from elementary to tertiary level, of which 12 are in university and colleges.

“In order to continue to support their education, we need to raise some funds and this Charity Car Wash and our Annual Charity Fundraise Dinner, is the only fundraiser we host yearly to raise sufficient funds for next year.

The annual charity fundraiser dinner will be on 1 December, 2023.

“Our target for this year is to raise K600,000.00 for the 600 plus vulnerable children going to school next year, including our Home School Program and Mobile School.

“Currently we have 12 students studying at tertiary level. Next year, hopefully we will have 10 or more join the tertiary group and it’s a very important fundraise for Life PNG Care Inc.

“Our appeal will go to the general public here in Port Moresby to come support this Charity Car Wash to send our children to school. We will also accept any form of donation as well, if you are not coming for the annual charity car wash.

“I see that the potential of our children is the most precious resources, we must handle them with care for our future and the future of the nation depends on them. Without building the future generation today, we won’t have the future.

“We can’t buy the future but together we can build it today,” Mr Pake said.
