A continuous downpour has been forecasted by the Thai Meteorological Department for today, affecting 40 provinces, including Bangkok. The capital city is expected to witness heavy rainfall covering 60% of the area, urging residents to be cautious of potential flash floods and sudden runoff.

The weather prediction for the next 24 hours is due to a high-pressure system or a mass of cold air weakening its coverage over northern Thailand and the South China Sea. This phenomenon allows the east and southeast winds to prevail over the lower northeast, the lower central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the east.

This condition results in thunderstorms over northern Thailand and heavy rains in some parts of the east. On the other hand, the trough crossing the middle south combined with a low-pressure cell covering the south and the southwest monsoon is weakening but still prevailing over the Andaman Sea, the lower south, and the lower Gulf. This causes heavy rain in some areas of the south. Residents in the mentioned areas are warned to be wary of dangers from heavy rains and accumulated rainfall that could lead to flash floods and sudden runoff, especially in areas near mountain slopes, waterway passages, and low-lying areas. They are also urged to exercise caution when driving through areas with thunderstorms.

For the Andaman Sea and the Gulf, waves are about one metre high. In thunderstorm areas, waves are more than two metres high. Boat operators are advised to proceed with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms, reported KhaoSod.

The weather forecast for Thailand from 6am today to 6am tomorrow: in the north, there are thunderstorms covering 40% of the area, mainly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun provinces. The lowest temperature is 22 to 24 degrees Celsius and the highest is 32 to 35 degrees Celsius with east winds at a speed of 10 to 15 kilometres per hour.

The lowest temperature is 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, and the highest is 30 to 33 degrees Celsius, with southeast winds at a speed of 15 to 30 kilometres per hour. The sea waves are about one metre high. In thunderstorm areas, waves are more than two metres high.

In the south (east coast), there are thunderstorms covering 60% of the area and heavy rain in some places in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, and Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces. The lowest temperature is 23 to 25 degrees Celsius, and the highest is 31 to 34 degrees Celsius. From Surat Thani province and upwards, there are variable winds at a speed of 15 to 30 kilometres per hour. The sea waves are about one metre high.
