1 wolf dead, 1 still missing after animals were deliberately released. zoo says

One wolf was found dead after being intentionally released from its enclosure on Tuesday, and another was killed, according to staff atGreater Vancouver Zoo. of wolves are still missing.

Her spokesperson Menita Prasad said her one wolf named Chia was found dead on her 264th street in Langley on Thursday. .

Another wolf, a young pup named Tempest, remains missing. Staff believe the wolf is still somewhere in the zoo.

"She is a shy wolf and not a threat to public safety," she said Prasad.

Tempest is small, with gray and brown puppy fur and white patches on her muzzle and forehead.

"They are not dangerous. They are really shy and wary of people," she said Prasad. "That's why they're near the zoo facility and trying to communicate with each other."

Wolves released from enclosure at Greater Vancouver Zoo

According to Zoo Prasad, both the wolf enclosure and the perimeter fence of the zoo were deliberately severed.

She released nine wolves and five cubs. Five cubs stayed in the pen and only two escaped.

Prasad said the zoo is working with the Langley RCMP to investigate trespassing and vandalism.

"We are watching wolves grow up," she said Prasad.
