So far, 11 candidates have participated in the race to become the next mayor of Winnipeg.
The latest is Glenn Murray, who led the city from 1998 to 2004.
Political experts say he adds diversity to the already diverse list of candidates.
"Glenn Murray, the first openly gay mayor in North America," said Chris Adams, a political scientist at the University of Michigan.

Adams describes indicators such as advertising, support from trusted names, and more. And big donors are just one part of what makes the list of applicants stand out. He said the information should begin to be revealed soon.

"By next week or so, we'll see who the top three or four candidates are."
Mayor Brian Bowman said Thursday afternoon that he has not supported the candidate so far, which could approach election day.
