17-year-old boy charged with carjacking in Toronto: police

A 17-year-old boy from Torontohas been arrested in connection with acarjackinginvestigation, police say.

On Monday, officers received a call of a person with a gun in the Midland Avenue and Shepherd Avenue East He area, according to Toronto Police.

A 37-year-old man was sitting in a parked car when a boy approached him, according to police.

Police alleged that the boy opened the man's car door and "demanded him to get out."

According to police, the boy had a gun and put his hand into the bag he was carrying.

Police say the man tried to get out of the car when the boy punched him in the face. . The boy then fled the scene on foot.

Officers said a 17-year-old boy had been found and taken into custody. Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his identity cannot be determined.

He was charged with robbery with a firearm, intentional disguise and assault.

He will face a bail hearing on Tuesday, officers said.
