20 B.C. restaurants make list of Canada’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants

Just in time for Valentine's Day ...

If you’re looking for the perfect place to wine and dine a loved one this Valentine’s Day, you’re in luck.

Restaurant app OpenTable has released its list of Canada’s 100 Most Romantic Restaurants for 2023, just in time for the most romantic day on the calendar. Created by “analyzing more than one million reviews by OpenTable diners,” the list weighs factors such as food, ambience, service and more.

The hot-100 list includes 20 tasty spots in B.C., including six Vancouver restaurants: Botanist; Hy’s Steakhouse Vancouver; Kissa Tanto; LIFT Bar Grill View; Lupo Restaurant & Vinoteca; and Osteria Savio Volpe.

Three Metro Vancouver eateries also snagged spots including: ATLAS Steak + Fish at Cascades Casino and Haven Kitchen + Bar, both in Langley; as well as Hart House Restaurant in Burnaby.

Victoria appears to be another hot spot for romantic restaurant options, according to OpenTable, garnering six spots on the list including: Finn’s Seafood, Chops and Cocktails; Glo Restaurant + Lounge; Vista 18 Restaurant + Lounge; Zambri’s; and Tea at The Empress.

The remaining B.C. eateries to make the list include: Miradoro at Tinhorn Creek Winery in Oliver; Alpina Restaurant at Villa Eyrie Resort in Malahat; Block One Restaurant at 50th Parallel Winery in Lake Country; The Butchart Gardens, The Dining Room in Brentwood Bay; Home Block Restaurant at CedarCreek Estate Winery in Kelowna; and Joe Fortes Whistler.

The company also released a few statistics and suggestions surrounding the upcoming dinner-date holiday, including the recommendation to book a reservation at least one week in advance in order to secure a spot on Feb. 14. And also to consider dining during “off peak hours” in order to better your chances of snagging a table at the most in-demand eateries.

OpenTable also dished on budget in its recent report, noting that 72 per cent of those polled plan to spend more than $41 per person on their Valentine’s Day meal — with most Canadians asked noting that splitting the bill total is “totally acceptable.”

If you’re looking to average a little less than $41-plus per person — ahem, as in $39.99 for two diners — Ikea is hosting a three-course Valentine’s Day meal (yes, including the famous Swedish Meatballs as an option for a main dish) at its Ikea Swedish Restaurants. Nordic Fruit Water and mocktails are included in the ticket price, while alcoholic beverages are extra.
