All three face charges of drug possession with the intent to traffic. Muong and Tankhapanya are also charged with illegal possession of a stun gun.
Tankhapanya has a criminal record for possession of a controlled substance. The two others do not have criminal records in Quebec.
The men were arrested as “part of an investigation targeting a cocaine distribution network that operated on the island of Montreal and the North Shore,” according to Montreal police, whose organized-crime division led the investigation.
Police say during Thursday’s arrests they found a cardboard box containing 30 kilograms of cocaine inside one vehicle in Kirkland, and three containers with 46 kilograms in another. Police say they seized an additional four kilograms of cocaine in a residence in Laval. They also seized $8,000 in cash, a stun gun, crack cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy).
