Advance voting for municipal election opens Saturday in Vancouver

Advance voting in Surrey starts on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at six of that city's 52 total polling stations

Voters who want to cast their ballot without waiting in line on election day can head to advance polls that open on Saturday.

Vancouver voting for the municipal election on Oct. 15 starts on Oct. 1 and continues on Wednesday, Oct. 5; Saturday, Oct. 8; Tuesday, Oct. 11; and Thursday, Oct. 13.

All of Vancouver’s regular polling stations from Britannia Community Services Centre to West Point Grey Community Centre are open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the above days. To find the polling location nearest you, go to vancouver.ca/vote.

You need to bring the voter information card you should have received if you’re already on the voters’ list, or register to vote by bringing either two pieces of identification or one piece of ID and make a solemn declaration to the election official on site.

The deadline to request packages for voting by mail is Thursday, Sept. 29.

The City of Surrey is also hosting advance voting on Wednesday, Oct. 5; Saturday, Oct. 8; Sunday, Oct. 9; and Wednesday, Oct. 12. The same times apply, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

But advance voting on those days is only be available at six of the city’s 52 polling stations: Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre, Guildford Recreation Centre, Fleetwood Community Centre, Princess Margaret Secondary School, Cloverdale Recreation Centre and Semiahmoo Secondary School.

The municipal elections across B.C. are on Saturday, Oct. 15.
