Schuller, Alta. — The RCMP in southern Alberta states that a passenger car driver died after a clear head-on collision with a cicada carrying flammable liquids.
Police said they received a 911 call on Thursday evening about a crash on Highway 41 North, just south of Schuller's settlement.
They say the fact that the cicadas were carrying flammable liquids created a significant risk to the public, and roads were closed for several hours in both directions to allow cleaning and further investigation. I say that.
Police say a 29-year-old man from Alberta, the only passenger car occupant, was sentenced to death on the scene.
A 64-year-old semi-driver was slightly injured.
Police are continuing to investigate.
