Alex Rodriguez wishes Jennifer Lopez his ‘best’ after her marriage to Ben Affleck

'With Jennifer, look, it was a good experience,' retired New York Yankees slugger says

Alex Rodriguez isn’t harbouring a grudge against his ex-fiancée Jennifer Lopez now that she is married to Ben Affleck.

“With Jennifer, look, it was a good experience,” the retired New York Yankees slugger, 47, said during an appearance on CNN’s Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace. “I wish her and the children — who are smart, and beautiful and wonderful — I wish them the very best.”

Rodriguez and Lopez started dating in 2019 with the current MLB analyst proposing two years later. But after delaying their wedding due to the coronavirus, they called it quits in March 2021.

In 2018, Lopez told PEOPLE that the relationship had come at a time in her life where she could truly cherish it.

“We love each other and we love our life together,” the pop star said. “The exciting part of our love is that we’re both very aware of how lucky we are to have found each other.”

Earlier this summer, Rodriguez told Martha Stewart that he had “no regrets” about their relationship.

“She’s the most talented human being I’ve ever been around,” he said.

After their split, Rodriguez tried — and failed — to win the pop star back.

Just hours before their breakup was confirmed, A-Rod shared a cringey video showing several photos and mementos from the couple’s relationship set to Coldplay’s Fix You.

He also posted a photo to Instagram with his two daughters, Natasha and Ella, in which he left three extra place settings, presumably for Lopez and her two kids, Max and Emme.

Rodriguez may have thought their separation was just a speed bump, with a source telling E! that the World Series star was “shocked” Lopez moved on so quickly.

“He truly thought they would be able to make it work and reconnect,” the insider told E!

Affleck and Lopez — to whom she was engaged in the early 2000s — reunited shortly after the dissolution of her relationship with A-Rod.

The Oscar winner briefly opened up on the relationship in a profile with WSJ Journal Magazine late last year.

“I can say that it’s definitely beautiful to me,” Affleck, 50, said. “And, you know, one of the things I really value across all facets of my life now is that it was handled in a way that reflected that. My life now reflects not just the person that I want to be, but the person that I really feel like I am — which is not perfect, but somebody who tries very hard and cares very much about being honest and authentic and accountable.”

Lopez gushed about their relationship when she announced he had proposed once again earlier this year.

“Saturday night while at my favourite place on earth (in the bubble bath), my beautiful love got on one knee and proposed,” she wrote in her newsletter. “I was taken totally off guard and just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again.”

In July, she and Affleck tied the knot in Las Vegas before staging a second wedding in Georgia.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez is currently back on the market after splitting from model Kathryne Padgett in September.
