Severe thunderstorm warning issued again for Guelph and Waterloo regions

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Guelph, Waterloo and Wellington counties.

A thunderstorm is expected to move to Ontario this afternoon after forming in Michigan, according to the agency.

Largest Severe thunderstorms that can cause heavy gusts of wind up to 90 km/h and torrential downpours with up to 50 mm of rain.

"Strong wind gusts can throw loose objects, damage weak buildings, and cut tree branches. It can snap, overturn large vehicles, and during thunderstorms it can cause severe lightning," the Environment Canada memo said.

``Remember, severe thunderstorms can cause tornadoes.

The storm is expected to continue into the evening as the region is expected to take a breather from the recent heat wave.

Environment Canada recommends immediate evacuation when dangerous weather approaches.
