Brenda Williams, 72, and Dennis Delgado, 78, were masked and distanced during the pandemic days of August 2021, but they happened to strike up a conversation while both were looking for mayo products in the aisles of Fry’s grocery store in Casa Grande.
She was looking for Miracle Whip, he was looking for proper mayo. According to an account in the Daily Mail, both had been widowed after lengthy marriages and were just coming out of mourning.
Dennis struck up a conversation with Brenda. He told 12news.com that he had made a joke about them both being masked, saying they could, “Pass these [people] not wearing a mask, and curse them out under your breath — they don’t hear a word you’re saying.”
The two exchanged phone numbers that day, and things grew from there. They also met up at a local church where Brenda bakes for the congregation, a hobby she picked up to regain a sense of purpose after the death of her husband.

Nine months after their first meeting, Dennis proposed on bended knee — at Fry’s, of course. When they married shortly after that, Fry’s shoppers joined friends and family for the wedding ceremony at the store.
They were married on Nov. 19 in aisle eight of Fry’s, where they’d first met searching for mayo.
The newlyweds have said they know it’s a bit silly to get married at a grocery store, but they hope the takeaway for all is to never give up on romance.
