According to DailyMail.com, a 23-year-old girls junior varsity assistant basketball coach pretended to be a 13-year-old player in a Jan. 21 game in Virginia and has been fired, along with the head coach.

One girl was absent for tan away game against Nansemond River High School. So, Churchland High School Truckers assistant coach Arlisha Boykins donned the missing player’s jersey number, a move that was reportedly seen in footage obtained by local TV station WAVY10.

District director of communication Lauren Nolasco told DailyMail.com in an email that, following an investigation, Boykins is no longer employed by the school and the team’s head coach is no longer working with the division.
The absent player’s parents told WAVY’s sports director Craig Loper that their daughter was out of town at a club tournament.

Nolasco also confirmed team players, with the support of their parents, opted out of the remainder of the season.
“Coaches always preach to the kids about integrity and those types of things, so I was just shocked,” the father of the 13-year-old told WAVY.
WAVY reported the player is no longer interested in continuing at Churchland High School next season and the family continues to seek an apology.
