KYIV — Local authorities urged civilians on Monday to urgently evacuate the city of Lysychans'k in eastern Ukraine, which is being attacked by Russian troops.
"Dear residents and their relatives of the territorial community of Lysychans'k City! We call on you to urgently evacuate because of the real threat to life and health," said the Luhansk region. Governor Serhiy Gaidai writes for the Telegram messaging app.
He said the situation in Lysychans'k was "very difficult" but did not mention the number of civilians remaining there. Before Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, about 100,000 people lived in the city. Weekend Sievierodonetsk.
