B.C. health officials are holding a media availability Monday to talk about what parents can do to protect their children during a difficult flu season.
Health Minister Adrian Dix, provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Dr. Penny Ballem from Immunize B.C. will provide an update on influenza and answer questions about the respiratory viruses circulating in the province.

This year, influenza is only part of the equation. Kids are also being affected by the respiratory syncytial virus, known as RSV. And nearly three years into the pandemic, COVID-19 cases are ticking up again, including among children.
Dix has hinted that postponing non-urgent surgeries is an option to make room for treating those with acute respiratory infections, but said late last month that step hasn’t been taken yet.
