LONGUEUIL — An independent police guard in Quebec is investigating the situation in a case related to the Longueuil police service that seriously injured a man late Sunday night.

The first police officer to arrive at the scene found a man in possession of a baton. The man then tried to attack the officer, followed by physical quarrels.
During the quarrel, a 41-year-old man lost consciousness. He was taken to a hospital in serious condition, BEI said on Monday.
Five BEI investigators have been assigned to investigate the status of the event. Parallel investigations are conducted by Sûreté du Québec, which also acts as a support police service.
