Toronto Blue Jays outfielder and leadoff hitter George Springer was left out of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the host New York Yankees after fouling the ball through his knee in Thursday's series opener.
Rudess Gurriel Jr. took the lead in Springer's place. He's batting .349 on Friday since his June 1. Thursday's 9-2 loss puts him in fifth place.
