Toronto — Kevin Gausman, the starter of the Blue Jays Helped outside in the first game of Toronto's doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tampa shortstop Wander Franco hit Gausman with a cambacker in the second inning, and the ball bounced off the grass to the pitcher's ankle.

Gausman tried to get the ball into the field, but instead fell into his stomach on the grass at Rogers Center.

Toronto catcher Gabriel Moreno completes play and initially throws Diaz, but Gausman is still lying prone nearby.

A trainer began attending Gausman and helped him off the field when the innings were over.

Right-handed Casey Lawrence, called by Triple A Buffalo as the 27th player in Toronto's doubleheader, took over the pitching mission in the third inning.
