Boy beaten and robbed as dozens of other kids look on in Grimsby

Four boys ranging in age from 13 to 19 face charges after a group of 50 youths scattered following a fight in Grimsby and video footage was later shared on social media showing a 13-year-old boy being punched and kicked by a group of at least seven people.

The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident, which saw Niagara Regional Police descend on the area of Willow Way and Hemlock Way on Sept. 21 around noon following reports of youths engaged in a massive brawl.

According to police, many of the dozens of youth scattered upon police arrival.

Within a day, police were made aware of a video of the large teen melee that was being shown on social media. The video showed a 13-year-old male being punched and kicked by a group of seven individuals while many others looked on.

Police have arrested a 13-year-old male from West Lincoln, who is charged with robbery and assault, a 15-year-old male, also from West Lincoln, who is charged with robbery, and a 14-year-old Lincoln youth, who is charged with robbery.

Tyler Susi, 19, of Grimsby, has also been charged with robbery.

All four have been released from police custody and will appear in court on future dates.

The investigation is ongoing and police anticipate making more arrests.

Anyone who possesses the video of the fight is cautioned not to share it as it could identify the victim or some of those charged, and their identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada.

Police ask that you delete the video.
