Brendan Rodgers hit a three-run homer and Ryan McMahon also powered the hosts Colorado Rockies in an 8-6 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in Denver on Thursday.
Lucas Gilbreth (1-0) pitched the relief of his scoreless inning, and Daniel Bird recorded his 24th save for the Rockies.
Colorado center fielder Yona Thundaza withdrew in his first inning with a left shoulder injury. He suffered an injury while making a diving catch on Nolan Arenado's liner.
Paul Goldschmidt hit his 3-base hit, while Nolan Gorman and Arenado also went deep into the Cardinals.
