Cleveland (AP) — Baker Mayfield's Rocky Run Cleveland officially ended Wednesday when the Browns traded a split quarterback and a former draft # 1 pick to the Carolina Panthers, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press.
Mayfield was kicked out of his first job by the pursuit of Deshaun Watson of the Browns when he went to Carolina for a conditional draft topic in 2024 or 2025. The person who spoke conditionally is anonymous because he cannot complete the transaction until the QB has passed the physical.
Browns also envisions part of Mayfield's $ 18.8 million deal next season. Cleveland plays Carolina in the opener.
Mayfield's time with the 2018 top pick Browns virtually ended in March, with the team having three first round selections and a total of six. Traded the selection to Houston. Suspension due to violation of the league's personal course of action.
