Winnipeg police busy Monday leads to three unrelated weapons arrests

Winnipeg police separately arrested three weaponsmen in unrelated incidents on Monday.

Police said they stopped the 37-year-old cyclist near Burroughs Avenue and Charles Street at about 1:45 p.m. for traffic violations.

The man was found to have been riding a bicycle that was reported stolen last month and was confiscated by police.He was in possession of two large knives.

He faces his property earned on possession of weapons and criminal charges.

A little over two hours later, another man on a bicycle was arrested by police after attempting to flee on foot, this time near Notre Dame and Hargrave streets.

Police say they found a severed rifle in the possession of a 28-year-old man . He is now facing four of his charges related to firearms and one of his charges of resisting security personnel.

Finally, on a Monday night, just before midnight, a woman was seen near Notre Dame and Balmoral Streets by an officer. Suspended by candidates. She was found in possession of a 20-gauge shotgun and was seized by police.

She is now facing charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm and concealed weapon.

Winnipeg Police believe July 11, 2022 could see an increase in the number of incidents such as carjackings.
