Steven Stamkos scored 42 goals and 106 points last season. But expecting the Tampa Bay Lightning forward to do the same again might be unrealistic, based on his age and the amount of hockey he’s played in the past few years.
Health is a big factor in whether a player has a productive offensive season.

Stamkos missed just one game last year. But after three straight trips to the Stanley Cup final, it might be a lot to ask for the oft-injured 32-year-old to stay in the lineup all season. After all, he missed 18 games in 2020-21 and 13 games in 2019-20.
For those reasons, I don’t expect Stamkos to reach the betting line of 38.5 goals set by BetOnline.ag — especially since it’s been 10 years since the former Rocket Richard Trophy winner strung together back-to-back 40-goal seasons.
