Washington — Canada's Rebecca Marino's Citi Open run ended Friday as they fell to Dalia Savill 6-1, 7-5 in the quarterfinals.
Play was interrupted early in the day due to lightning and rain before the players could return to the competition hours later.
Marino had two fewer double faults than Savill, but the Australians beat five out of six from Vancouver.
31-year-old Marino won two qualifying matches before entering the 32nd round.
He then defeated Venus Williams and Andrea Petkovic to book a ticket to the quarterfinals.
Marino will then be competing at the National Bank Open in Toronto on August 8th.
