St. Louis Cardinals dismissed starter Jack Flaherty in the third inning against the Chicago Cubs on Sunday due to a stiff right shoulder.
The 26-year-old right-handed player has made his third start of the season since he was off the 60-day disabled list. He missed the first two and a half months of the season with bursitis on his shoulder.
Flaherty allowed one hit with two scoreless innings, two walks and two strikeouts. He threw 49 balls and made a throwing error again.
He had no decision and achieved 5.63 ERA in 8 innings this season. This is the sixth season of the first round pick in St. Louis in 2014 since he made his major league debut in 2017.
Right-handed, Nick Wittgren started the bottom of the third inning on behalf of Fraherty.
