Champlain Lookout at Gatineau Park and Champlain Parkway Partially Closed

The State Capital Board said the closure will last four weeks while landscaping work is completed on the observatory.

On weekdays, the Champlain he Parkway between the Etienne Brulee and Champlain Observatories will be closed.

According to the NCC, access to Champlain Lookout and closed sections of the parkway will not be possible by road or hiking trail.

Parkways and trails will reopen to active users, vehicles and Gatineau Park shuttles on weekends.

The NCC urges all park visitors to respect their workers and follow the instructions of the new temporary signs.

The popular Champlain Lookout offers views over the Ottawa Valley from the top of the Ardley Cliffs, where the Canadian Shield meets the Lowlands of St. Lawrence.

Part of the observatory's retaining wall he collapsed in 2019, and the NCC spent several years rebuilding and landscaping the area.
