A police investigation determined that Blom didn't die by homicide. But an acquaintance faces multiple counts related to her death
Just under a year ago, 17-year-old Maaike Blom was reported missing by her family. Her body was found in a home on Block Falcon Way in south Delta two days later.
A police investigation determined that Blom didn’t die by homicide. However, one of her acquaintances has been charged on multiple counts related to her death, including interference or indignity to a dead body and multiple drug and firearms offences.

Delta resident Jimmy Eely, a 22-year-old man who was known to Blom, had 11 charges sworn against him on Thursday and made his first appearance in court on Friday.
“Although the loss of Maaike will be eternal, we hope that an arrest in this matter brings some form of solace to Maaike’s family, friends, and the community,” said Delta police Deputy Chief Harj Sidhu. “We acknowledge that there is still a long road of healing ahead for everyone involved in this tragic situation.”
Sidhu said the investigation was long and complex and that police “appreciate the patience and support of the Blom family, and extend our heartfelt condolences to them as they continue to process the loss of their daughter.”
Sidhu said police won’t be providing any further details about the investigation now that it is before the courts.
