Ottawa's third pandemic summer caps off with a weekend night full of fine dining and live music on the Rideau Canal.
This year's Chef's Table series, hosted by the Festival of Small Halls, kicks off Thursday and spans his four weekends on the patio of NAC's Restaurant 1 Elgin. Each night we serve a three-course farm-to-table dinner prepared by a brigade led by guest chef and NAC Executive Chef Kenton Lyre. After dinner, Ottawa musicians perform from barges floating on the canals.
From August 17th to 21st, Sandy His Hill Le His Cordon Bleu Ottawa executive His chef, Yannick Anton, roasts herb-marinated and roasted bison striploin. Team up with Leier to make a meal with his main course. The music for the night is by singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Angelique Francis.
From August 25th to his 27th, chefs Stacey Johnston and Minnette Lotz at Naramattine in Okanagan Valley, British Columbia will be presenting their dishes. Some of their dishes are currently available at 1 Elgin through the Resident Chef program. Manitoulin rainbow trout will be on the menu, with the music provided by die-hard singer-songwriter Amanda Rhum.
From September 1st she will appear with Leier until the 3rd. Includes her roasted beef tenderloin and her almond pesto. Musicians for the evening are the dueling piano trio ofDave Kalil, Tyler Keeley and Todd Huckabourne.
Closing out the series from September 8th to her 10th will be Leyer and the team of Ottawa chef Joe Tutangal, whose South Indian-influenced menu features teri. Cherry pepper includes her chicken. More than two years after the devastating fires of May 2020, Coconut Lagoon, a restaurant on Boulevard Saint Laurent in Tottengal, is set to reopen later this month.
Angelique Francis on September 8th Dueling Pianos will return on September 9th and 10th.
