China’s suspected spy balloon giving people something to laugh about

Ben Affleck isn’t the only one giving off major meme vibes.

Despite China denying that the massive balloon that floated over the United States — and flew by Canada — was not a spy balloon, the U.S. wasn’t buying it and President Joe Biden ordered that it be shot down.

China has since accused the U.S. of indiscriminate use of force in shooting down what they say was a “Chinese civilian unmanned airship” in the middle of an “accidental” flyover, further straining U.S.-Chinese relations.

If it was a spy balloon, it remains unclear what information it learned while hovering high in the sky.

Is it a potentially serious issue? Yes! But that doesn’t mean people on social media were going to let it fly by without a few jokes getting cracked.

“Not gonna lie… this is funny,” Don Jr. wrote.

Piggybacking off Don Jr.’s warning about TikTok, someone concurred, questioning if a spy balloon is even needed.
