Chinese President Xi makes first public appearance in two weeks

Beijing — Chinese President Xi Jinping visited northeastern Liaoning province on Tuesday, state media reported, as he and other leaders emerged from a two-week absence from public activities to participate in the annual summer conclave.

President Xi Jinping visited a museum in Liaoning's Jinzhou city commemorating a key battle in 1948, state news agency Xinhua reported Wednesday.

Prior to Wednesday, there had been no coverage of Xi Jinping's activities by state media for his less than two weeks. His activities are usually reported almost daily. Beidaihe seaside resort east of Beijing.
