City council members resign hours after being appointed due to re-emergence of social media posts

Rosemary Brian, when he resigned, Etobiconose I was a member of the Toronto City Council for only a few hours. She posted on social media she made in her past.

"I resigned from this appointment tonight," she wrote about four hours after being nominated for her job.

"I've been so devastated that my past social media posts have been thrown against decades of community efforts."

Community worker Brian was appointed by the city council after a special meeting was held on Friday afternoon. She is to fill the vacant seats created after a former councilor in the area was elected to the MPP.

Brian was one of the 21 candidates considered in the appointment process to replace him.

At a special meeting on Friday, each was given the opportunity to address the council and answer questions. These posts before today's discussion, and now I think a lot of people didn't vote for me, "she wrote in her resignation letter.

A previously submitted document to the Council, Day said, Brian works as a channel for community and family service managers and HOPE coordinators in the Salvation Army.

Mayor John Tory issued a statement on Friday night in support of Brian's sudden resignation.

"If I knew these posts, I wouldn't have voted for this appointment. I know that's the feeling of the majority of councils who voted today," a Tory statement said. Says.

He said he had asked the city authorities to review the appointment process.

Brian's appointment was to take effect shortly after her declaration of inauguration, until the expiration of her current council term on Monday, November 14.

Etobiconose is vacant again.

The next city council meeting is July 19th.
