City of Vancouver officials will begin clearing homeless encampment tents along Hastings Street on Tuesday.
Staff will depart downtown He along the stretch between Gore Avenue and Abbott Street on the East Side, the city said in a statement. Removal begins with the areas of highest risk and continues over the next few weeks.
Staff will provide temporary storage to protect people's personal belongings.
The first fire order to remove the tents came from Vancouver Fire and Rescue Chief Karen Fry on 25 July.
"We recognize the emotional impact this work will have on the community and everyone involved," said the City of Vancouver. ``City officials try to be considerate and considerate of the people and their situation.''
