CNE will open today in Toronto for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic

The Canadian National Exhibitionwill be held today inToronto. The trade fair will be held for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health measures restricting in-person events have prevented the 2020 and 2021 fairs from running.

The organization that runs the fair says cancellations cost millions of dollars and missed revenue.

Darrell Brown, CEO of the National Exhibition Association of Canada, said earlier this week that a lot depends on this year's event, which runs through September 5th.

The CNE has previously stated that the strike will not affect the safety of visitors, staff or vendors. It says it is taking steps and will have its own engineering team conduct the inspections, in addition to those conducted by non-members of TSSA staff and managers.
