COVID-19 update: Hospitalizations rise as Quebec reports 11 deaths

The number of patients in the province's hospitals with COVID-19 is at its highest level since mid-October.

Quebec announced on Thursday that 11 more deaths had been attributed to COVID-19, bringing the province’s death toll to 17,426.

The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 rose by seven to 1,981. That’s the highest level since mid-October.

Of those patients, the number in intensive care increased by two to 53.

The province reported that 1,241 more COVID-19 cases had been confirmed through PCR testing at its clinics. However, because this method of testing is not accessible to most Quebecers, the case numbers are not representative of the situation in the province.
