COVID-19 update: Hospitalizations rise as Quebec reports seven deaths

The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 is at its highest level in more than a month.

Quebec announced on Thursday that seven more deaths had been attributed to COVID-19, bringing its death toll to 17,361.

The province also reported that the number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 rose by 33 to 1,979.

That’s the highest level in more than a month.

Of those patients, the number in intensive care dropped by six to 45.

The province reported that 1,205 more COVID-19 cases had been confirmed through PCR testing at its clinics. However, because this method of testing is not accessible to most Quebecers, the case numbers are not representative of the situation in the province.
