COVID-19 update: Quebec reports 18 deaths as hospitalizations rise

The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 is at its highest level in more than a month.

Quebec announced on Tuesday that 18 more deaths had been attributed to COVID-19, bringing the total to 16,816.

The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the province increased by 102 since the province’s last update, to 1,757.

This is the highest level of hospitalizations reported in Quebec since Sept. 1.

Of the hospitalized patients, 33 were in intensive care, a decrease of three.

The province reported that 973 more COVID-19 cases had been confirmed through PCR testing at its clinics. However, because this method of testing is not accessible to most Quebecers, the case numbers are not representative of the situation in the province.
