Pope Francis says there is insufficient evidence to initiate a formal investigation into the sexual assault of Cardinal Marc Ouellet of Quebec.

The Pope made the declaration today through the Pontifical Press Director.

Ouellet faces sexual assault allegations in a class action lawsuit filed in the Quebec Superior Court this week.

Female identified as 'F'. The cardinal, once considered the frontrunner to become pope, was sexually abused at events in Quebec City between 2008 and 2010, including slipping his hand down his back and touching his buttocks.

F. wrote a letter about Ouellet to Pope Francis in January 2021 urging Father Jacques Servais to investigate her allegations. I was informed that I was appointed.

More to come.
