Despite leading all defencemen in goals and points, Karlsson remains a Norris Trophy long shot

Erik Karlsson leads all defencemen in all measurable stats. But the 32-year-old, who is among the top-5 in NHL scoring, is still considered a long shot for the Norris Trophy.

According to BetOnline.ag, Karlsson has 10/1 odds of winning his third award as the best defenceman in the league. That’s an improvement from the 16/1 odds from a month ago — and a considerable upgrade from the 66/1 odds to begin the season — but there’s still three defencemen still ranked higher than San Jose Sharks defencemen.

Of those, reigning Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche has the best odds (3/2). He is followed by New York Rangers’ Adam Fox (15/2), who won in 2021, and Buffalo Sabres’ Rasmus Dahlin (8/1).
