Seven people injured and one killed in multiple car crashes in downtown Toronto: Police

Early Saturday morning, after multiple car accidents in downtown Toronto, one died and another seven were rushed to the hospital.

Toronto Policesaid they responded to reports of accidents involving colliding pedestrians in the areas of Wellington Street West and University Avenue.

Local police, firefighters, and rescue personnel all rushed to the scene to assess the injuries of "multiple people," police said. Roads around the incident were closed due to emergency services functioning.

Seven Toronto rescue workers rushed to hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious injuries, police said. Meanwhile, one person was declared dead at the scene.
