Kelowna police chase driver who crashed into school bus and escaped officers multiple times I'm trying when they tried to pull him.
RCMP officials were investigating an unrelated clash shortly after 5pm. I saw a green hatchback crash into a bus on the roads of Springfield and Durin Tuesday. The driver was uninjured and there were no passengers.
The cavalryman instructed the driver to pull over to the side of the road, but he took off at high speed to the west.
Kelowna RCMP spokesman Const. Mike Della Paorella said the hatchback was soon spotted and several police officers boxed it up and tried to stop it.
The car "rammed both a police car and a woman who got out of the getaway car," Della Paorella said in a release. The unharmed woman was first arrested, but then she was released on the spot.
The hatchback was spotted again at Block 2000 on Loseth Drive and witnesses saw the male driver get out and southeast he fled into the woods of Kirschner Mountain. The mountie, including support and police dogs, searched for the suspect, but the man was never found.
"We reassure the public that we take these incidents very seriously and are working diligently to identify the driver in order to hold him accountable for his actions. Mark Booth, Sergeant in charge of the Transportation Section of the Kelowna RCMP, said:
Police determined that the seized green hatchback license plate was not registered to the vehicle.
Anyone who witnessed the crash, tracked it down, or has footage on his recorder driving is asked to call his RCMP at 250-762-3300.
