Police in Kelowna accused a driver who crashed into his bus and fled from police several times. trying to track down when they tried to pull him.
RCMP officials were investigating an unrelated clash shortly after 5pm. I saw a green hatchback crash into a bus on the roads of Springfield and Durin Tuesday. The bus driver was not injured and there were no passengers.
The cavalryman instructed the driver to pull over to the side of the road, but he took off at high speed to the west.
Kelowna RCMP Const. According to Mike Della Paorella, the hatchback was soon spotted and several police officers boxed it up and tried to stop it. } The car "rammed both a police car and a woman exiting the getaway vehicle," Della Paorella said in a news release. The unharmed woman was arrested, but she was released on the spot.
The hatchback was seen again at Block 2000 on Loseth Drive, and witnesses saw the male driver get out and southeast he fled into the woods of Kirschner Mountain, including air support and a police dog. A search was made by the Mountie for the suspect, but the man was never found.
"We reassure the public that we take these incidents very seriously and are working diligently to identify the driver in order to hold him accountable for his actions. Mark Booth, Sergeant in charge of the Kelowna RCMP Transportation Section, said:
Police determined that the seized green hatchback license plate was not registered to the vehicle.
Anyone who witnessed a crash or chase or has dashcam footage is asked to call his RCMP at 250-762-3300.
