In a public service announcement Thursday afternoon,Interior Health announced that the emergency department atSouth Okanagan General Hospitalwill be "diverted" starting Thursday. 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM on Friday
Diversion is the act of transferring a patient to another hospital, usually due to staffing issues.

According to Interior Health, Oliver's emergency department is usually open 24 times a day. Open hours, 7 days a week.
The health agency did not specify why the emergency department would be closed, but said at Southern Okanagan General Hospital, all other inpatient services would continue as normal.
