Kingston, Ontario has fewer than 10 childcare centers. I joined the $10 a day program

With a September 1 deadline set, day care centers have to decide whether to participate, and for some, the decision is not easy to make.

This isn't the only day care center leaning toward rejecting the plan.

The City of Kingston said the city daycare that applied to participate in the program said she was under 10, but the city remained hopeful, stating: I'm here. Eligible childcare providers opt-in to this system.

Upon joining the program, childcare was paid to families within 60 days, retroactive to April 1. Refund 25% of the fee.

Reed says there is little information on that aspect.

"It's very unsettling not knowing where the funding differences come from," Reed says. "We're all for parents who cut tuition, but the question is where does that money come from?"

Ontario Independent Parenting Association President Centers calls the program "chaotic" and "disorganized" I'm calling, and Reed has a similar opinion.

"It was very rushed. The private sector was not consulted at all," Reed says. "Providing our information could have avoided some of this."

They say only one family has decided to withdraw, but with 300 families on the waiting list, demand may be a bigger issue than cost for families, at least for now.
