Two fairly even matched sides, we didn’t get to see much of Serbia in attack during its first game with Brazil being on the ball so much. Expect the Serbs to be a lot more aggressive in attack in this one. The Africans are also in need of some points, though, and won’t back down. Unfortunately, both sides will be forced to settle.

South Korea 1, Ghana 0

Sure, Ghana nearly got a draw with Portugal, but it required a lot of luck in the process. And if your gameplan is to rely on that, it’s not a very good one. The Koreans will have the best player on the pitch in this one with Heung-min Son leading the attack. The Spurs star can provide the moment of brilliance his country may need.

Brazil 2, Switzerland 0

You know that a team is incredibly deep when it can lose a world-class talent like Neymar and still be favoured to win the whole tournament. Switzerland will be no pushover for Brazil, but asking for a draw is a bridge too far for Xherdan Shaqiri and Co.

Portugal 1, Uruguay 1

Cristiano Ronaldo got his goal and Portugal got the three points, but were incredibly sloppy at times. Also, Ronaldo’s penalty call was one of the weaker ones we’ve seen. Uruguay has the quality to both frustrate the Portuguese and put pressure on their back line. While we think the South Americans can certainly take the three points, you have to account for some Ronaldo shenanigans in the box.

Paul Chapman’s picks

Cameroon 1, Serbia 1

Two squads with lots of quality and lots of heart, but they struggle in front of goal. With Brazil still to come for Cameroon, it’s more important for the Africans to get something out of this game, but Switzerland is going to be a tough final match for Serbia as well. Evenly matched teams, so wouldn’t be shocked to see this 0-0 either.

Ghana 1, South Korea 0

Ghana was unlucky in its loss to Portugal, it needs to be more polished in the final third, but make things tough in midfield. South Korea looked resilient against Uruguay but, let’s be honest, they rode their luck in that draw and were fortunate to get a point. Don’t think this game will offer a ton of opportunities, but when one arises for Ghana, it’ll need quality to take it as Korean goalie Kim Seung-gyu proved he’s a beast who won’t be beaten easily.

Brazil 2, Switzerland 0

Yeah, Neymar is injured and my miss the rest of the tournament, but if Richarlison continues to play like did in the first game and if Casemiro runs the midfield like he did in the opener, it won’t matter all that much to Brazil. Solid from the back on out, there’s too much quality all over the pitch for Switzerland to handle. The Swiss already have three points in hand and likely will play it tight hoping for a draw here, but in the end. Brazil just has too much talent to not win this match.

Uruguay 1, Portugal 0

Luis Suarez! Cristiano Ronaldo! This would be a dream matchup if it was 2010. Uruguay was quite direct in its opener but couldn’t find a breakthrough, I’m expecting that to change. Darwin Nunez is so fast and so strong, I think this game is his coming out party. Especially dangerous in the air, a goal off a set piece seems in the offing.
