Filipino Culture Celebrated in Saskatoon

Saskatchewan Filipino Music & Food Street Festival in Saskatoon this weekend.

It started at Kiwanis Memorial Park on Friday and ran from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. there was a big crowd.

"There's diversity here in Saskatoon and we've grown over the years, but the Philippines (the community) has grown so much over the past few years, so we don't want to lose that culture. and legacy,” said Chris Rodriguez, CEO of GKM Events Management.

A large part of its culture and heritage is food.

Roasted pork, spring rolls ,Fried noodles.

Rodriguez says the food hit.

“Hmm, the first day went really well, even though the weather was dark and rainy. We were surprised. Yes,” says Rodriguez.

Salma Zahid is a proud Filipino who traveled from Toronto to Saskatoon to attend the festival.

The festival runs until 9pm on Sunday night.
