A few years ago, the website Big Think published a map showing the first contact of aliens in the movie. Not surprisingly, California and New York are as popular landing points as London and Tokyo. Fringe locations include the North Pole (objects from another world) and the Antarctic continent (objects). But in Pannil Tung, a village of about 1,500 Inuit, just below the Arctic on Baffin Island in Nunabut, ET has never ignited.

Slash / backshows why it was a wise call. So far it has been.

The sci-fi adventure story, co-authored and directed by Nyla Innuksuk, begins with a group of girls enjoying the summer weather in the Far North. The forecast is bright. On June 10, the sun will rise at 12:31 am, 19 minutes after the last sun set. The next sunset is 23 days later.

Very few adults appear in the movie, most of whom do not participate in the Summer Solstice Square Dance and entertain young people. And teenager Mika (Taciana Shirley) and her friends rent a boat for a quick joy ride to the nearby Tundra.

There they find a white bear. One of the girls shoots with a mica rifle, but Mika's sister is attacked by the animal and fires again to finally drop it. They have seen white bears clearly before, but they (and we) can say something is wrong with this. "It didn't work right," someone says. It also bleeds black.

The following are equal partsThingandattack blocks, proving that local children are the first and best on earth Alien invasion horror line of defense. Inuksuk doesn't take the subject very seriously, with a bit of humor along with some sneaky social commentary, like some First Nations children tend to shy away from their heritage. ..

The scene of hitting both notes at the same time is a scene that Uki (Nalajoss Ellsworth) suggests that they saw Ijiraq, a transformation from Inuit's folk tradition. Mika tells her she's just repeating "the story of an old man made because she didn't have the internet yet." After that, Uki created a new theory. Yes Yes. Certainly an alien. probably. "

Slash / Backis a recent Renaissance of First Nations, including Jeff Burnaby'sBlood QuantumandNight Raiders. Fits nicely in genre photosby DanisGoulet. Features a dreamy low-fidelity that doesn't compromise the strength of the film. Plots like vinyl records left in the midnight sun for long periods of time. While interrupting and skipping, viewers continue to invest at a fun and desperate pace and tolerate small mistakes. Of all the places aliens can land, Nunavut is the most dangerous and entertaining. Turned out to be one of the

Slash / Back will open on June 24th in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Winipeg, Sascatoon, Kingston, and on-demand. .
