KINGSTON — A building on Princess Street was destroyed after a fire ripped through the property late Tuesday night.
Kingston Fire and Rescue responded to calls of a fire at 557 Princess St., located between Alfred and Albert streets at about 10:25 p.m. The building was formerly a Gino’s pizzeria that had been vacant. Kingston Police responded shortly after.

Police report that Princess Street, between Alfred and Albert streets, will be closed so that fire crews can continue to work at the scene. Police did not say when they expect the road to reopen.
The fire department said at about 5 a.m. that an excavator was being brought in to help crews extinguish the fire.
