The Saskatoon Fire Department reported that a three-story apartment complex caught fire on Friday. The
department received a call at 3:06 PM. When the alarm went off and black smoke was coming out of the laundry room.
Three fire engines, one ladder truck, and one rescue team were dispatched. Firefighters reported that residents were evacuating the building.
When the crew entered the building and entered the laundry room, they found the trash can on fire and extinguished it.

Under control at 3:17 PM when the fire was brought in. Ventilation removed all smoke from the building and the fire alarm was successfully reset.

Fire Survey Finished.
Fire investigators identified an open-fire device, a lighter confiscated by police and taken as evidence.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by Saskatoon Police.
Damage he estimated at $4,000, and the fire started in a trash can in the corner of the laundry room.
