The incident happened on Highway 401 near Courtice Road and the merge lane from Highway 418 was blocked as a result.
Apparently drivers need to be reminded about removing ice and snow from their vehicles before they hit the road — even those who do it for a living.
The OPP Highway Safety Division tweeted out a video around noon on Friday of a truck whose front windshield on the driver side was completely broken and smashed in after “chunks of ice” from another truck flew off and hit it.

The incident happened on Highway 401 near Courtice Road and the merge lane from Highway 418 was blocked as a result.
There was plenty of Twitter reaction to the video that had racked up over 10,700 views by early afternoon on Friday.
“Here’s a crazy idea. How about you clowns actually ticket people who aren’t making ANY effort to clean their cars? I drive for a living and CONSTANTLY am hit by flying snow / ice. Meanwhile I have NEVER in my entire life once left my parking spot without ensuring my car is clean,” tweeted @MartinJCrypto
Added @manonymos: “Damn! Hate seeing people drive around snow covered cars. It will be risky at highway speed, and even if it doesn’t break your windshield, it might still block vision for a few seconds.”
Agreed @mouse_9898: “There should be a particular law about the cleaning the snow/ice off the truck and trailer hood…I see it keeps on falling all time and fortunately most of them does it hit windshield. Have them purchase those equipment to clear off the snow. IT SAVES LIVES!!”
